The EU Erasmus+ Workshop (I) — Immersive Eye-tracking Consumer VR/AR Lab for Vocational Education and Start-ups was successfully completed in Çanakkale from 14–18 April 2026.
Hosted by Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and Çanakkale Teknopark, the on-site workshop brought together partners from LMU Munich and Çanakkale to move the EyeCon VR/AR Lab from planning into hands-on implementation.

From System Checks to Hands-On Training#
The workshop opened with a welcome reception, lab tour, and technical checks for the EEG trigger and VR systems at the Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences. These checks prepared the shared equipment and workflows needed for later training and pilot work.
The following two days focused on intensive technical training:
- Full-day EEG tutorial covering signal transmission, scalp-recorded potentials, electrode setup, recording practice, and data quality considerations
- Full-day VR tutorial covering immersive experiment setup, VR task implementation, and integration with lab hardware
- Joint discussions on how to align the training materials, equipment setup, and future pilot studies across partner sites

Building a Shared Lab Workflow#
A central goal of the workshop was to make the VR/AR and EEG workflows usable across the project consortium. Participants worked directly with the lab equipment, reviewed technical procedures, and discussed how the system can support vocational education, research training, and start-up oriented applications.
The LMU delegation included Prof. Dr. Zhuanghua Shi, Dr. Artyom Zinchenko, and Chunyu Qu. Together with the Çanakkale team, they reviewed the lab setup, tested technical integration, and planned the next steps for training and pilot activities.

Cultural Exchange in Çanakkale#
The program concluded with a cultural exchange and Çanakkale tour, including visits to Kilitbahir Castle and the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial. This final part of the visit strengthened the collaboration between the partner institutions and created space for informal planning of the next project activities.
The April workshop marks an important milestone for the EyeCon VR/AR Lab project: the consortium now has a shared technical foundation for upcoming research training sessions, pilot experiments, and educational materials.
